MBUX 2.4 update seems to kill USB-C ports

I have a 256GB USB-C thumb drive installed in the top USB-C port in the front cubby, and a 256GB USB-C thumb drive in the bottom port.. The top port is for the built-in dashcam, and the lower port has my CD collection ripped into Apple lossless files. This has worked perfectly, including on a trip today.

After today's trip, the MBUX 2.4 update message popped up on my central screen, and I followed the instructions to perform the update, which appears to have worked just fine.

However, while the dashcam still works correctly, the music drive isn't recognized and I get a message "Port 2 device unreadable". Moving the drive to the ports under the center console storage yields messages that port 3 and 4 are unreadable.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm guessing that the thumb drive size/format and/or music format specs have changed, but it would be odd to break something that worked before. As nothing changed except for the MBUX 2.4 update, I have to pin this problem on that.

The plot thjckens: when I removed the dashcam and music thumb drives from my SL63 and moved them to my PC, Windows warned that the data on the drives was corrupted. Indeed, the dashcam video files from before the MBUX 2.4 update were playable, but not the ones after the 2.4 update. None of the music files were playable. An MBUX update that corrupts user files is unexpected and Not Good.

I reformatted the dashcam drive and now it seems to work ok. But after reformatting the music drive, it's not recognized by the car. I put a handful of files onto another thumb drive and that worked once or twice before stopping.

My working theory is that the update didn't complete correctly and needs to be redone, by my dealer.

In case this helps someone else with the same problem, I was able to fix it: resetting and rebooting MBUX cleared the problem and the USB-C ports once again recognized my music thumb drive. The files on the drive were corrupted so I had to reformat it and copy my files onto it again. Also, the dashcam video recordings after the MBUX 2.4 update were corrupted and I deleted them.

Mine updated today. Ports seem to be working fine with no apparent corruption of my music files
