'03 SL55 SEAT HEATER QUIT

As the title states, the seat heater in my '03 SL55 stopped working. Has anyone else experienced this and what was the fix?

Thanks in advance...

This is normally caused by a break in the element (2 elements per seat, 1 upper, 1 lower). The element is integral to the leather cover, so replacement is not practical. The repair is simple enough by buying an aftermarket element and slipping it between the seat cover and the foam (and then splicing into the wires within the seat for the original element).

You can often find these "elements" in NON kit form for less, but these are so inexpensive in kit form it is not worth spending to much time looking. I have used these on 3 of my AMGs (including my SL55) and have never had a subsequent failure. They do have slightly lower heat output then the factory element.

This kit has 4 elements (enough to replace seat and back elements in both seats).

Hope that helps,

That's an interesting solution.
