2025 G63 Active Ride Control - worth it?
Hi everyone - looking to get a 2025 G63. I went to order today and but wasn't able to order the rims I wanted with active ride control. So now I have a choice to get the rims that I want or active ride control. Will not be doing any off-roading. Is active ride control worth it? Thanks for your time!

If you want a buttery smooth ride then yes. If you don’t mind an SUV ride, then no. We take our 2024 on 500+ mile road trips all the time and love it, and it doesn’t have active ride control, (it wasn’t an available option). I personally would wait until the 2027/2028 version, before ordering active ride control. My 2003 SL has been nothing but trouble in that department. It was the 1st year model of active ride control. It currently sits in my garage, with multiple leaks. Thinking about removing active ride control and replacing with traditional shocks.

It’s really nice to have an option to select a sport suspension setting when needed, or comfort when desired.

Excellent question @vickvinegar ! From the initial 2025 G63 driving impressions on YouTube from channels like Autogefühl and Shmee150, AMG Active Ride Control was mentioned as a great enhancement. The adjustability seems like a real plus in my view so agree with SLS and MB2timer.
A dealer I have been in contact with checked early this week and confirmed he could swap wheels on a 25 G63 with the AMG Performance Package. It may be good to ask again to see if you can order the wheels you would like, as it does not seem that the 22” gold cross-spoke wheels (RP5) are an absolute requirement with the Performance Package. It does not sound like you are interested in the AMG Offroad Package Pro; from what I can tell the wheels with that package cannot be changed from the 20” twin 5-spoke design (RG7). It is a shame, in my view, that AMG Active Ride Control is not offered in the U.S. as a standalone option as it is in Europe, at least for 2025.
What wheels are you hoping to add and how else are you looking to spec your G63? We are going with the 21” twin 5-spoke wheels in black (RJ6) in conjunction with the AMG Performance Package if at all possible. Would enjoy hearing what your build will be like. Cheers.
