A little leak
Just noticed a little leak on the oil separator so I am planning to do the expansion plugs as well as the car is 15 years old already. Just saw this kit on FCPeuro and just wondering if do I really need to change the other things while I am at it or go for the "do not fix when it is not broken" route?

Pulled the cover and oh my gawd the last bottom bolt is a phacking pita! I spent a good 45min. trying to put back that bolt. I am not sure if the cover I took out is original (can you guys decipher the date stamp?) but the seals are in really bad shape. I did the mechanic cheat to take out the bolt. Placed a grip tape on it so that I dont lose it down there. The oil separator is not grooved so I decided to not replace it. The expansion plugs are not leaking so did not bother as well. I think everyone should put these seals and cover on their dyi list and check these every oil change. Also used a little bit of blue loctite just to make sure it does not wiggle out.

Yup! If you reach down below the cover and there is oil, time to replace it before it gets really worse. The leak is the least of your concern. If there is a lot of oil on the tubing you need to replace the tube and drip pan and pray oil did not go up. Make sure to check the oil separator itself and if it is groved, replaced it. Better buy the kit just to be sure unless you are okay with piece meal maintenance. GL! I think every engine type that has this one should replace it every 50-60k just to make sure you are doing your engine a favor.
