Aftermarket GPS Antenna Recommendation

Which aftermarket GPS antenna would you recommend? I replaced my Audio headunit with a Comand and am using an Eightwood GPS antenna. I have it behind the hazard/ seat heater buttons panel. I can get four satellites and then it will lose the signal. My E350, with factory nav, gets 7-9 satellites and doesn't lose the signal.I plan to move the antenna to above the instrument pod but am thinking that I would look into a different antenna when making the change. This is in a 2007 CLK350 convertible.

Thanks

You have the antenna inside the vehicle?

Yes, it is an aftermarket GPS "puck".

Do you have it located where it can receive signals through glass? Metal attenuates the signal strength.

As I mentioned in my first post, I currently have the antenna behind the hazard/seat heat button panel and plan to to move it to behind the instrument pod because there would be less metal above it. My request is for recommendations for a more efficient antenna than the one I am using now.

All I'm suggesting is to see how your current antenna performs given an unobstructed sky view, before searching for a new one.

I only want to pull the console apart one more time, so if there is a better antenna that the one I have now, I'll splurge and get it. The one I'm using now is an Eightwood. So, if there is a better one I'll get it.
