Wheel and tire protection

I just bought a gle350 with 20 inch wheels. The dealer encourages me to purchase the 7 year protection plan for wheel, tire, windshield and key replacement at the cost of $3800 with unlimited miles and 0 deductable.
I am wondering if it is worth it? I live in bay area btw.

I prefer to self-insure, but you need to decide your own comfort factor. I've kept all my cars for 7 years and never spent that much on those items.

Of course they do. If you never use it, it's pure profit.

Do you have a history of whacking pot holes and curbs requiring tire and wheel replacements? I think for $3800 you could get an entire set of replacement wheels and tires to be honest.

I'd skip it. I haven't read any v167 owners (even with 22" wheels) having an issue with damaged wheels. Your 20" tread will have plenty of sidewall to protect your rims.

For windshield, your insurance covers that.

Your windshield is already covered under the comprehensive section of your auto insurance policy. My windshield replacement was covered by USAA at no cost to me. As for wheels, you can do a lot of wheel replacement/repair for $3800.00

Curb rash on the rim itself, can usually be repaired for a couple hundred dollars.

Anything more major than that, would probably be an insurance claim.

I strategically scraped curbs on both front wheels, right after I got the car.
Wanted to get that out of the way early...

(New car, trusting the surround view cameras, reverted to Braille...)

Sorry, I miss the paintless dent repair in the plan. So it is (tire & wheel, cosmetic wheel, paintless dent repair, windshield, key replacement) for $3875. Do you think it is better to skip?

For comparison, our same Fidelity coverage, minus the key replacement is only $2,657. You can reach me my my contract information below for more information.
