Tire rotation
Hi Folks,
I haven't been able to get a clear answer. I am rotating tires at about 7k miles on my EQS 450x4. Should tires rotate from front to back, side to side or X pattern?
Thank you

Likely the X pattern (if you don't have staggered tires and the tires are not directional). If staggered then you can only do side to side, if directional you can only unmount the wheel and tires and mount it on the other side.

I am on my second set of tires for my EQS 450 4Matic SUV with non-staggered wheels. For both the original 21" tires and the current 20" tires the heaviest wear was the right rear and the the least amount of wear has been the left front. I have been rotating the second set at about 5000 miles following the "forward cross" pattern, "C", described at this TireRack tech article:

After 20000 miles the tread depth on the 20" 265/50R-20 Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 XL is about 9/32 on all four tires.

Any reason you chose forwardcross, instead of rearward cross for AWD?

You're welcome, it will show directional and a similar symbol like this one or (the Rotation wording with an arrow pointing towards the direction of travel):

I doubt if the factory supplied tires are directional. But there is a good chance they are asymmetrical, in which case you will see the word "Outside" embossed on the tire sidewall.

Both the rearward cross and forward cross patterns eventually move the wheels to all four positions. I wanted to move the highest wear (right rear) tire to the lowest wear (left front) position immediately after being in the worst spot.

Normally, directional tires will have an arrow embossed on the sidewall showing the direction of rotation when moving forwards. Example at this link:
