Fiber optic cable

My pops has a 2008 w221 s550. His rear driver side quart panel was damaged in a hit and run, everything was fully restored but the radio. According to the body repair shop, the fiber optic cable from factory was severed and the factory radio will not work with out it. My dad purchased an after market radio as per the shops request ( they were hoping to bypass the severed fiber optic cable) and even after installing the aftermarket radio, the problem still remains. Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

do you have a picture of the cable? Though the body shop may want to use something new. There are plenty of aftermarket solutions to splicing fiber optics. I’ve used splitters and loops in a previous e55 when removing component off the MOST ring.

What chop shop is doing the work?
It's a standard automotive multi mode cable, can even use a joint in most cases. Replacing the radio because of a wire... What clowns..

Also this is the w222 forum.
