Question Clunking or knocking when jiggling steering wheel

Had my wife jump in the GL450 today and jiggle the steering wheel as part of troubleshooting a front passenger tire with serious outer wear.

I can hear a clunk or knock when she jiggled the steering wheel back and forth. I can't isolate it unfortunately just because the sound resonates. Car has new Lemfoerder end links. The bushings on the sway bars look okay but I have a new set I will be putting on. However, the knock is not coming from those bushings.

Open to advice on the source of this clunk when moving the steering wheel around with the engine off and ignition on.

Now just one GL450 with EORP.
Outer tie rod ends
inner tie rod ends
steering rack bushing

troubleshoot this yourself, put a set of chassis ears on each individual part to eliminate or find the culprit.

Just need to do more detective work. At a bare minimum, feel things as the wheel is moved. Try up in the air, too.
