Blower Fan Knob Removal

I need to put a new dash light bulb behind the climate control fan. I see two phillip screws at the bottom edge of the wood face plate surround for the climate control module but to remove it I see that the knob for the blower fan needs to be removed. I don't see any set screw to loosen so I assume the knob is a press fit. Is this correct? Might I simply pull on the knob to remove it from the switch shaft?

Hi Laura, yes you just pull on that. A tool would make it easier but you may be able to just yank on it.

Dolucasi, Thank you for the quick response . I will try to remove it. Pliers might be needed since my hands are weak. I will put a cloth between the plier jaws and the knob and try not to damage it.

You are welcome Laura. Since yours was probably never removed before, it might be in there tight. Pliers may help, and you may have to nudge it with a screwdriver gently but put a cloth between the screwdriver and the zebrano as not to scratch the wood coating. The screwdriver maybe more effective due to leverage.

Laura,

I'm not sure removing the faceplate gets you where you want to go. You may have to remove the center console for this.
My recollection is that to get to the top/back of the fan blower unit the console needs to be removed/tilted forward.

That is a different set of screws and a bit more involved.
