Talking G63 AMG 2025 owners - do you feel the exhaust is too subtle now ?

G63 AMG 2025 owners - do you feel the exhaust is too subtle now ?
I have driven the last generation many times, and the exhaust was really really loud.
But now this 2025 feels very very nimble exhaust note even in sports plus mode.

Or am I missing something
I just finished my first 1000km only in the new car!

I was thinking the same thing, it seemed to be louder yesterday, it might need to break in. I’m running out the 91 octane fuel. I’ll fill up with 93 octane once I use up the first tank. It’s definitely not as loud as my 21 and 24.

Are you referring at idle, during acceleration, or both?

Both, I don’t think it’s as loud as my others.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Our dealer has one on site and my wife was able to test drive it since I'm buying her one. I was expecting a much louder and more powerful exhaust noise. Hate to say it, but both my wife and the dealer agreed that it is much more quieter and less aggressive in terms of exhaust noise than my '24... We tinkered with the drive mode and even went full manual with the windows down, but the exhaust noise is very tamed and noticeably less throaty compared to the '24. I have no clue why other than maybe the addition of the small electric motor has something to do with it?

Both idle and acceleration, its 50% less the sound than the last generation

My urus S is same v8 turbo and it like roars the hell out of the whole area the moment it starts. Forget the corsa mode haha!

Im using 98 octane since beginning and 1100km done - Its gas guzzler. Drinking like crazy but sound is so poor now in this new generation!
Big disaster.

Im sure they dont have excuses to norms or regulations, because urus with the same v8 turbo engine sound 10 times more loud.

AMG G63 ('24); Ferrari Roma ('24); Alfa Romeo 4C ('20); AMG C63 ('10)
A close friend of mine picked up his '25 this past week. Beautiful color - matte military green (I'm not certain Mercedes' exact name for this color) with black interior. We went out for a drive and I immediately noticed the exhaust was somewhat muted. At first I thought it was because of the allegedly enhanced cabin insulation and the windows were closed. So we headed back to pick up my '24, then swapped cars and left them in idle and drove both with all the windows and moonroof open. After about an hour of some fun "Fast and Furious" driving on PCH (while keeping an eye out for the police as we weren't exactly paying attention to our speedometers), we both acknowledged that the '24 is noticeably louder, more throaty, and more aggressive in tone - especially when driven rigorously in manual mode where u can control the revs of each gear.

We were both hugely surprised, but my friend was a bit bummed out. He's already planning on after-market modifications, which I don't like doing to any of my cars... Perhaps it's due to the small electric booster engine as some of you have suggested, but I don't know the exact reason. Nevertheless, I'm glad I didn't switch to the '25. However, I do like the '25 overall, except for the IWC digital clock which seemed extremely TACKY to me. I honestly can't see any exterior differences between the '25 and the '24 unless I know the features to look for, such as the horizontal air intake in the front bumpers.

My plan is to hold on to my '24, then probably switch when the '29 model is released. Heads up: What I've been told by my friends at AMG corporate in Germany is that Mercedes will release a "50 Year Anniversary Special Edition" in '29. Thereafter, MB will start phasing out the V8 engine for the G63 in anticipation of the '35 European emissions deadline. That's just my personal plan as I'm sure others here will have different views/approaches.

Stay safe.

Why would you run the new 25 hard before it’s broken in? The service manager at my dealership said to keep it in comfort mode because the transmission is in the learning mode or something like that. To each their own. The 25 even though the exhaust isn’t as loud is a much better vehicle than the 24 with the active suspension and hybrid assist makes it drive, ride and handle better than the 24. It’s also quicker with the hybrid assist, I did look for the analog clock when I got it. The MBUX is much better than the command system and keyless go is great.

MBUX... is something, every chinese could make. Exhaust noise is pure emotion.

Did you try G63 with or without AMG Performance package? Maybe a G-wagen with AMG Performance package sounds different.

I have the performance package. No, I haven’t tried one without the performance package. I had a 21, 24 and now a 25 G 63. The performance package has nothing to do with the exhaust, mostly suspension and speed delimiter.

G63 and others
Interesting observation, and sadly the way most new cars are coming

Latest GT3 I read has 4 particulate filters or cats? can't be good for the legendary sound, new Ferrari 12C reports the same thing that the sound is muted and nowhere near as angry as the outgoing 812 Superfast

Porsche had problems with emissions on the GT3. I had IPE headers and titanium exhaust on my GT3. I wonder what the new Urus sounds like with hybrid.

I have both 2022 and 2025 G63s and to me it's very hard to tell any difference in the exhaust sound. If anything I feel the 2025 is a bit louder and throatier.

the reviews of the eurospec ones said it was louder than the outgoing generation. Im not sure how that translates to the north america version.

I had a 21, 24 and now a 25. Mine isn’t nearly as loud. I’m still using up the 91 octane fuel and will fill up with BP 93 octane fuel and see if that makes any difference.

Yeah, they lowered the horsepower or torque because of emissions.

If this is the case, are you guys thinking of doing the cat delete or new exhaust system?

No. because I’m planning on trading every year. I was at the dealership today and the tech guy said he read something about Mercedes making the exhaust quieter because of complaints in Europe.
