22” A/S tires

Anybody know anything about these A/S tires which were suggested by Discount Tire as alternatives to OEM 22” for GLE53:

Kuhmo Crugen HP71

285/45R22. @$250

305/40R22. @$250

Thanks

I guess my comment here is if you have to ask about how good tires are because you haven’t heard about them then that answers a bit about them.
Tires are the top most important thing on a car, especially a huge performance oriented SUV.
They may be great tires. But until there are sources to state that on an easy search I stick to the standard known name brands.

GLuck.

The problem is there is only one name-brand A/S tire available that fits the 22” specs, and they cost nearly $4k for set of four installed.

I’ve seen these 305/40R 22. Are they good replacement for OEM 325/35R22?

Would you mind giving an update on those Nittos to your original thread that you linked? I imagine you have several thousand miles plus maybe some winter action.

I'm not sure I've ever heard of an A/S tire that states it should NOT be used in temps below 45 degrees. That's a new one...

Is that Walmart description? I buy many tires from them and their descriptions often have errors. See Lexani website:

I finally found Nitto 22” tires at Amazon. I’ve been holding my breath until I’m notified they’re shipped.

It was the Walmart description. Just clicking the original link provided

Any chance you've actually tried these tires? If so, a review would be terrific. I was nervous buying the Nittos!

Nope. Not yet. But I may be soon. I'm looking at GLE63s with 22's right now.

Life's too for cheap tires.
At least we've heard of Nitto.

My MB dealer mounted 22” Nitto A/S tires for my 24 GLE53. All is well so far. Will be tested in snow soon.

I was looking for 22" all seasons for my GLEs but discovered the Pirellis were back ordered. Originally was ten days but updated to thirty days. Found dedicated Pirelli snows on Tire Rack in the correct size.. Dealer ordered them and had them mounted two days ago. First observation is that the ride is smoother and quieter because of the softer compound. Don't expect to get long term wear but I've already experience a marked improvement in light snow and early morning black ice. This vehicle is a daily driver with a 160 mile round trip commute. I'll get them switched out in April so only a couple of months to go. These are expensive ($3,200 for four) but well worth the peace of mind and safety factor. These AMG cars are akin to owning a thoroughbred horse. You need to feed them oats not hay. As they say, if you want to play you gotta pay.

Good news. A new all-season option for 22 rims:

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season

285/40R22 $464.99 - Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 285/40R22 110H All- Season Tire - Walmart.com

325/35R22 $494.99 - Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 325/35R22 114Y All- Season Tire - Walmart.com

I got excited and hope to remain so...

It appears those links may be mislabeled. Under "specs", it states they are summer rubber. GoodYear does indeed make an F! Asymmetric All-Season (with a tread pattern that is very different than than the Asymmetric "6" linked above) but the sizing only appears to go up to 20" on the GoodYear website.

Alternatively and aside from the Scorpions and the Nittos, Hankook has released an AS in 22" OEM sizing. May have to give those a shot next go-around.

Please let me know if you see it differently!

Thanks for pointing that out. Hope that "Summer" reference it's a typo. The front size 285/40R22 also just got listed on Tire Rack but the rear has not.

I've been looking @ replacement front tires for the '24 GLE 63S AMG, and I'm seeing that it calls for a "Y" speed rating (186MPH) and that seems to limit the choices available.

No snow in BeachLand, it's summer and rain here, no snow or ice. I figured the load rating is more important than the speed rating, V or above should suffice. Any input on the speed rating from you guys?

A higher speed rating will result in more responsive tires. The handling is noticeably crisper, in my experience.

Beach - you nailed the load rating for the all-season options. The Scorpions and Nittos both meet the requirement - and believe the recently released Hankooks do as well.

Looks like I'll be getting the Conti's for the front, since they'll need to be replaced soon.

The problem, if I remember correctly, is the DW6 doesn't come in 22" OEM sizing for the rear. Why would you just get the fronts?

I only need front tires at this time. The rear have plenty of life left, but the fronts are almost gone. I have no problem mixing tires, I've been doing it for years on my trucks / SUVs.
