2016 CLK400
Brake rotor and pad replacement for CLS400 (c218)

I have 2016 CLS400.
I got all rotors and pads replaced at 60k miles. (Mercedes genuine parts were installed)
At 90k mile, the dealer informed me that I need to get the front rotors and pads replaced very soon. And, they quoted $1400 for this brake job.

Any recommendation on the brand of rotors and pads?
I am thinking of going with
  • Zimmermann brake rotors
  • Akebono pads

I have used Akebono pads on clk500 in the past. I ran 60k miles on these and i ended up selling the car. So, who knows how many miles I could have gone more on those. I have never used Zimmermann Rotors. Any feedback on this brand?

I've used Powerstop slotted and drilled rotors front and rear with their carbon-fibre/ceramic pads with zero issues.
Better braking performance and way less brake dust.

One more vote here for Powerstop rotors with Z23 CF pads. They're not on my CLS but on another car. When the time comes it will be Powerstop on the CLS.

I flagged is post - just to (with luck) get rid of that info.

As for brakes....I prefer the Brembo two piece and LOVE LOVE LOVE the EBC reds. I have that setup on my AMG and non-AMG cars. I did put Zimmerman and Powerstop on the GLS as well as the C. I do not drive them day to day so can not really say.

I used the dynamic friction from Rockauto but Powerstop basically same price, probably about the same quality. I do want to point out one very important thing with these cars, CERAMIC pads, not metallic. We had horrible vibrations with the vehicle after purchasing it. Previous owner had it serviced and installed metallic pads, what a mistake

On my 2014 CLS, I have Centric Posi-Quiet pads, all around.
Zimmermann rotors on the front and MB rotors rear.
On my 2009 CLS (C219), I used Akebono Euro pads and Zimmermann rotors all around because they were available for that car.
When the time comes, I'll go with Powerstop pads and rotors, per this thread.

If your rotors are good, akebono pads are great. It's when you need rotors too it makes sense to buy the kit

The Akebono front pads are not available for my car. That is why I went to Centric Posi-Quiet. No complaints with them.
I had them on my C219 and they were great.
