Does anyone know if the 2027 model year gets the new V8. First it was announced that the refreshed S Class would get it and today they said that the GLE580 is getting it as well. but nothing online on how the new flat-plane crankshaft sounds though.

M177 Evo, new engine will be quieter than previous AMG V8s due to EU7/regulations.. But it will have up to 800hp for AMG versions, standard v8s will be around mid-500hp.
It might be too early for GWagon but eventually will come across, perhaps 2028. I believe 2028 is safer bet after a year of trial 'n error

 

800? Really. Damn it. That means I might have to order a new G63. I was hoping to keep my 2025 for a bit.

AMG 63: will get at least 600 hp and more..

 

I have not heard anything about a new V8 in the 2027 model and my sales manager said it is the same engine as 2026, But, that sounds great..... It gives me a year or so to get used to the current AMG before switching again. HAHAHA.

Maybe they are increasing power because the Defender Octa engine has over 600 HP? Either way it sounds fishy to me they would jump to 800 HP as part of a next years model. Other drive-train upgrades would be required to handle all the torque, but it would be a blast to drive.

 

as @uniqueMR had rightly pointed out, the engine is code named M177 Evo. In the S580 and GLE580 the numbers are not that great - 530 and 533. the 63 and 73 (who knows) will get obviously bigger numbers.
