2027 new V8 - G63

2027 new V8 - G63
Does anyone know if the 2027 model year gets the new V8. First it was announced that the refreshed S Class would get it and today they said that the GLE580 is getting it as well. but nothing online on how the new flat-plane crankshaft sounds though.

M177 Evo, new engine will be quieter than previous AMG V8s due to EU7/regulations.. But it will have up to 800hp for AMG versions, standard v8s will be around mid-500hp.
It might be too early for GWagon but eventually will come across, perhaps 2028. I believe 2028 is safer bet after a year of trial 'n error

I have not heard anything about a new V8 in the 2027 model and my sales manager said it is the same engine as 2026, But, that sounds great..... It gives me a year or so to get used to the current AMG before switching again. HAHAHA.

Maybe they are increasing power because the Defender Octa engine has over 600 HP? Either way it sounds fishy to me they would jump to 800 HP as part of a next years model. Other drive-train upgrades would be required to handle all the torque, but it would be a blast to drive.

as @uniqueMR had rightly pointed out, the engine is code named M177 Evo. In the S580 and GLE580 the numbers are not that great - 530 and 533. the 63 and 73 (who knows) will get obviously bigger numbers.

Hi all -- Today Mercedes unveiled detailed information on the 2027 GLE 63 S and GLS 63, which are the first models to receive the updated AMG M177 EVO engine with the flat-plane crankshaft. Interestingly, the power and torque figures are unchanged compared with the cross-plane variant, although the EVO achieves these results while meeting more stringent emissions standards.
It is unclear when the new EVO biturbo V8 will make its way to the G63. Perhaps in time for the 50th anniversary of the G for 2029? A press release and video on the new V8 are below -- in the RBR video, information on the engine starts at 10:55. It sounds quite good from an initial clip released by Mercedes, though it will be a bit yet before the media has the 63 models of the GLE and GLS available for a first drive.

I saw this too, I was thinking it's going to take some time to make it's way to the G63 given the retooling I'd imagine the truck would need to get the new flat-plane V8... Thinking how long the G63 held onto the Command system from 19-24 which was just tech! Could be wrong!

Oh yeah!! That would be epic. The interesting thing is they are switching to the flat plane V8 for emissions/regulation reasons supposedly, so I'll be curious to compare current gen V8 for the good stuff like sound and power to the new V8s coming.. I hope it's all an upgrade but jury is out
