Rattling noise from engine bay

Anyone experience anything like this? It sounds like a metal or fan tapping sound. I thought it was the brake booster at first but after parking you can still hear it. Does not rattle during acceleration maybe I can’t hear it over the engine.

its driving me nuts and since it’s out of warranty Benz wants $350 to look at it…. No thanks!

Pop the hood with the engine off and push on the plastic engine cover. Those mounting points break and cause a tapping rattle at idle. Also feel around the fan shroud, a loose clip there makes a fan-slap noise. Do it cold so you don't burn yourself.

So I took it to a local shop and they found the air oil separator was the cause. Remove the oil cap and the sound goes away.
