This morning noticed smoke from engine - video - leak
I noticed this morning smoke coming out of the engine Bay and behind me as I was on the freeway I pulled over and this is what I saw smoke coming from the bottom corner of the engine. 2010 Mercedes E350 Coupe . A couple or so weeks ago I did an oil change and 30 seconds after driving after changing the oil and filter I had an issue where I didn't seat the oil filter properly with the O ring and it was bulging out I immediately pulled over fixed it and refilled it Since then it's ben fine And I didn't notice any issues with the oil filter this morning Any idea where this could be coming from would be so appreciated.
I suppose my #1 suspect is the valve cover gasket. I'd clean it up so you can then watch for where it's coming from.
After every oil change you should leave the bottom covers off, hood open, and watch it as it runs to be sure nothing goes wrong. I've heard about every possible way someone can screw up an oil change.
Is your oil filter mounted up top or under bottom? Is it a spin on or canister type?
Its on top - on the other side (opposite that filler cap). When I had that it was the plugs in the rear of the engine. I repalced the three plugs and the breather with this kit from Scamazon. Went on quite easy - supposedly it is better than the plastic one I took off.
