Center AC Blower Vents

I noticed that when there is about 15 degrees F difference in setting the AC temperature (outside is 89 inside set to 74), the center blower continuously blows loud but not necessarily strong. It goes on for a long time . . . as long as 30 minute or more.

Are the center front vents too small that make it insufficient when the weather is hot outside to cool the inside of the car? The inside does cool down but at the cost of very noisy center air vents.

Check what temp the rear seats are set for. I had the same issue, but realized the rears were set much lower.

Normal for Mercedes. That noise is refrigerant rushing through the expansion valve, not the vents being small. Happens when AC works hard. Try setting fan speed manually lower, not auto. Or close center vents slightly to change pressure. Won’t hurt anything.

Speaking of AC, I finally found something on my EQS I actually dislike--the giant amount of noise created by the AC system/blower fan. Now that it is hot again, my car on auto climate rushes to cool the car. The fan noise is just so loud that it is overwhelming, especially since it is otherwise so quiet. I don't know why it is bothering me this year and not previous years. Yes, I do pre cool the car before getting in it. I've experimented with turning auto off, and turning down the fan to position 1 but still...loud. Anyone have thoughts on this or found a way to get the system to cool it, pun intended?

I’ve never noticed any excessive fan or expansion valve noise on my SUV, even with a lot of Arizona summer use. I do keep the four-zone AC set on synch.

The only way I can avoid the LOUD AC fan noise during the summer months is to park the car in the garage or shaded area. Otherwise, in full sun, the AC blows LOUD and hard for the rest of the trip. I tried everything. All AC vents wide open, all temp sync. It is as if the center front vents are restricted or designed too small causing air to blow out loud but not necessarily stronger. That's one thing the Germans can't get right compared to the Japanese brand especially the Toyota.

I solved my own problem. I investigated what the rear vents were set to. They were set to auto. I turned off auto on both rears, and the HVAC system suddenly stopped insisting on blast and calmed down. Problem fixed. Nice when something is that easy.
