W213 Rear Brakes, Ignition left on or off?

I’m about to do a rear brake job on my W213. I would like to know if the ignition should be left on or off after it is placed in the “Fitting Position”. None of the videos really mention my question.
My thanks for all of your answers.

Off. A) you don't wanna drain the battery and B) you don't want the pistons to potentially move while working on it. It's been a while, but it may even instruct you in the instrument cluster to turn off the ignition once it has retracted the pistons. From what I remember, once you turn the ignition back on, the pistons automatically move back to their normal position, so leave it off until you are done.

When to pump the rear brakes after turning off the fitting position

Thank you for your clear and concise answer to my previous question. After turning off the fitting position when the rear brake pads are replaced should the brakes be pumped then or after the car is started. I think they should be pumped before starting the car again but it’s obvious you know what you’re talking about on this subject. Again, thanks for your anticipated reply.

No different than any other car. Pump before and after starting the engine to make sure all the slack is taken up and brake booster is working and you have full hydraulic pressure. The service position is just a way to retract the pistons and then cycle them back. You still have to bleed the system if you changed fluid and do all the necessary for the brake fluid to get pushed all the way down and you have proper pressure.
