Air bladders and pumps for the seats

The seat bladders in my 2007 W211 E63 recently stopped inflating. I checked with my shop, and they mentioned they just finished the exact same repair on an E55.
Since the issue is happening in both of my seats, it’s likely either the bladders themselves or the inflator pump. To play it safe, the shop is ordering replacement pumps and bladders for both the driver and passenger sides.
Since my E63 is 19 yrs old, they said that due to their age, the bladders can develop cracks and the pump can burn out trying to inflate them. My question is this a common problem?
I could live with this feature, but I like adjusting my seat to make it more comfortable. And we are still awaiting for the parts to come in from Mercedes.

totally normal. It’s an old plastic bladder that’s been blown up thousands upon thousands of times. I’ve replaced these on multiple Mercedes.

Age is an issue with the material used in the bladders and the pump itself.
Common? I cannot say but, again, after 20 years or so the aging of synthetic and natural materials is an issue. This is why I purchased multiple parts out of "new" old stock off the shelves of MB and store them on my shelves in a controlled environment. You are one of the few of whom I am aware who spends the money to maintain their car to as close to new as possible.
Tidbit of info, I had a coworker who, in his basement, had on shelves many items procured from around the world (including from Australia the last-in-the-world differential) for his Datsun Fairlady 240Z. Right-hand drive so he had to take it through drive-throughs in reverse.

Enthusiasts are strange that way...

Thank you for the compliment. I make a real effort to keep my vehicles in top shape and don’t mind spending the money to do it. I’ll just keep checking in with my shop for updates on the parts so I can get it taken care of. Not having air bladders really bothers me since I like adjusting my seats to my liking.

I had a talk with my shop, and they received a quote from Mercedes on the parts, the right air bladders are NLA. But we can get the right air bladders and the lower lumber bag and air pumps.
Now the shocker, all these parts along with labor for both seats is roughly $3500. Wow....... For that price I can certainly live without them. But when I schedule my wheel alignment, we will investigate this further.
I'm thinking that is the air bladders are faulty we could use Heavy-Duty Vinyl Repair Tape and wrap them, now if the air pump is the culprit we can replace those at cost.

I'm headed into the shop this Friday to have the seats investigated, I can understand one seat not working; drivers seat (air bladders) but both seats, I think this is a bigger issue, like the air pump in the trunk not working or a blown fuse.
But I will find out the real issue this Friday, I'm hoping that it's the pump.
