Auxiliary Battery replacement
Dear fellow members,
Its time to replace the Aux battery on my E320 CDI 2006.
I currently have the original battery (part# A2115410001) on it and would like to go with the AGM battery part# A000982960864. However, Mercedes does notsupersede 2115410001 to 000982960864.While AutoHauz, FCPEuro and other say it is compatible.
Has anyone changed theirs to A000982960864? Or would you recommend staying away from it. The specs are all the same.

Just go on Ebay or Amazon and get a 14-BS AGM (Powersports battery - motorcycle, etc.).
Search for " YTX14-BS AGM"
You'll see ones that are 12ah (amp hour) and 14ah. I've used both ah ratings with similar results and lifespans. If I recall correctly, I believe the MB battery is a 12ah.
Prices range from $35 - $50 online. Don't overthink it, it's a motorcycle battery!!!!

I was going to pick up the oem at the dealer today as I negotiated them down to a palatable price. However, this battery seems to be very nice. Is this a strategy and play or would one need to fuss with bigger screws, spacers etc to get the terminals to fit properly? Also, how long have these lasted for you in your W211? Mine has lasted for over 190 years and my car is mostly sitting garaged. If orms last longer I would go with that because I am barely driving 3,000 miles per year. These are such fine vehicles that they are hard to part with. It’s ironic that a vehicle that is to be driven long distances is sitting idle.

This battery is plug and play.
If you look at the bolts on the car's wires, they are attached, so all you do is install the included square shaped threaded spacers into the battery terminal for the car's attached bolt to thread into.
As for lifespan, I've seen 5-7 years on average.
Since my car also sits for extended periods, I've made a habit of disconnecting both negative terminals, as these cars are very sensitive to voltage issues.

Believe it or not it is that old. This red battery visit workshop message just started coming up and now won’t go away. This is the reason I wanted to check if people got better mileage with oem aux batteries.
BTW, I haven’t load tested the battery to be sure if it fact is bad now. I am just going off the fact that it is so old and the voltage on the dashboard is slightly lower than 12V

you may want to load tested it disconnected to for sure it still has sufficient CCA
