I got this car with a subscription package and the latest version of maps available installed in the car. Despite this I am still getting a message about the updates
I suspect that this is happening because my can is not syncing map version with the backend what seams to be confirmed in online portal
I am getting conflicting messages from dealer and Mercedes corporate so I would like to find out if this is my car problem or wider issue/feature

Did you download the entire map and not just a region with a usb stick/sd card?
Not sure how it is relevant but all maps (every region) are on latest version
It is relevant because if they don't update the map in full to latest version, the map version does not update in the infotainment which might cause the update loop/new update prompt. Try updating the whole map in one go not just each region. Try that despite you have the entire map at the latest, especially if you manually updated each region separately.
Downloaded full map again but car is saying that the latest is already installed and marks the update obsolete ...
That is frustrating indeed, will need other forum members to chime in but from what I have been reading the issue you are facing was mainly caused by some regions having different versions or updating regions separately so was advice to update the entire map at once, sounds like that "fix" wasn't able to solve yours. What you could probably do is wait for a new map to release and then update the entire map manually with the new map to bring everything up-to-date and showing up-to-date.
Only semi-related. I thought the Facelifted C300 were 2019+. Is the 2018 pre-facelift with NTG 5.1 or 5.2? Just asking due to title and to clear it up in my head. Unfortunately, I do not have any good ideas for why the maps are failing to update for the OP. I haven’t used a vehicles OEM navigation in probably aa decade myself. Kinda settled in with Appple CarPlay for the convenience of having everything synced all the time between all vehicles, phone, table, etc…

2018 can be facelift as well in Europe, USA got facelift W205 as 2019 model year. OP's image does show the facelift so OP is likely in Europe, facelift is COMAND 5.5, pre-facelift is COMAND 5.1.
Thanks. This gives me insight on why I was confused. I am in the U.S., and my 2018 C300 Cabrioet was pre-facelift. So it really threw me off. This is my first Mercedes, so I am not dialed in on many body style shifts and changes over time with very many models. Appreciate the insight and difference on when the design updated between Europe and the U.S. with the C300’s.
OP, if you post larger and better pictures that we can actually read w/o using a magnifier that makes it all fuzzy then perhaps we can assist you better. But it looks like your car isn't syncing with the MB backend from what I can make out. I can't read that part very well, but it looks like it hasn't synced for 1500+ days. So the app still thinks you have old maps and keeps telling you that there is an OTA update. For the OTA update to show as not installed, that's normal if you updated the maps manually. Sometimes it will flip to installed as it sees the update is no longer necessary, but not always. Before I cancelled my subscription, I had at least one OTA map update that showed as not installed, because I did the update manually. It didn't cause any issues as once the car correctly syncs back, the app doesn't keep saying that there's an update, but as said, it looks like your car isn't syncing up with the mothership. That can happen if the HERMES module locks up and stops communicating. A dealership can reset it.
Lastly, it's always possible that MB is having a technical issue at the moment. I can't tell you that unfortunately, because A) you are in Europe and I'm in the USA, so there could be regional outages, and B) I no longer actually have an active subscription. Also, I was told by my service advisor earlier this year, that MB is ending support for NTG 5.5. I'm not entirely sure what that means, but map updates may stop and services may get turned off for NTG 5.5. I'm now exclusively using CarPlay. The subscription has no longer been worth it for me as I don't drive enough.
