2001 E320 4matic Wagon ELEC. STABIL. PROG. ESP VISIT WORKSHOP

Started up the beast the other day and was met with an engine acting like it was misfiring and while that is happening the center dashboard says: ELEC. STABIL. PROG. ESP VISIT WORKSHOP. I ran a scanner and got codes P 0410 secondary air injection system/ P 0450 evaporative emission system pressure sensor switch and P 0120 throttle pedal position sensor switch A circuit (this code I got twice).

So I replace the throttle position sensor. I replaced the MAP sensor and all the vacuum lines in the area. The gas tank pressure sensor I'm sure is ok but the actual pig tail connector has no clip so the wire harness doesn't click into place and wants to pop out of the connector all together. The big plastic disc that covers the access port to the tank is the only thing keeping that switch from popping out entirely.

I started her back up, half expecting a smooth idle as before and...no go. The engine acts like it's misfiring. When you press on the accelerator there's no action at all.

I've got a few places left that could be the P 0410 code but I don't think that's causing this ELEC. STABIL. PROG. ESP VISIT WORKSHOP error and engine in limp mode.

Any ideas what to whack a mole next?

UPDATE: I'm thinking this is because the hydraulic pump has failed. I know the pump has been laboring, steering has been hard and the fluid reservoir level has been going up and down, up and down constantly over the past few months. So my theory is the pump has failed. The car in response has put the engine into limp mode, forcing me to go to the workshop. Because I'm running the scanner on an engine that is being disabled by the system I'm getting false readings that the throttle position sensor is wonky.

I read somewhere that the alternator going funky can cause some issues as well. I've not replaced that part on this car, so I'm keep note of that.

If anyone has any experience with this. Please let me know.

Update day two: Alternator tests working fine. Battery is a 12.4 with vehicle off, 14.4 with vehicle running and remains that way with the battery under load with radio on, AC on full and headlights/high beams on.
I replaced the pedal value sensor (throttle position sensor). This had no effect on the engine running as a misfire/disabled. I've checked the pedal and it is correctly pulling the throttle line to the new pedal value sensor but still no positive change to this VISIT WORKSHOP code and the engine running as a misfire/disabled.

I've cleared the codes twice but P 0410 secondary air injection system code remains. That tells me that connector switch without a clip has popped out of connection, I'll need to source a new connector with a plastic clip tab. This has nothing to do with the engine code and misfire/disabling.

Because of the engine being disabled and there being no response on the foot pedal, I can't even test drive the car. It is disabled. Very effective program.

The only thing I've got left in my mind is the system has sensed the hydraulic pump failing and that's setting off the VISIT WORKSHOP code and the engine being disabled. What do you think?SaveShare

I'm updating the thread. I'm waiting for the Autel OBD dongle and thought I would pop off the lid to the ECU and see if there was anything suspect and I found a blue wire that belongs to a connector block, popped out. I'm not sure if this has to do with the code/engine misfire, but does anyone have a picture of their ECU so I can see where this blue wire belongs? My gut is telling me it belongs in the white block at the end but that's a guess.
