2027 S Class Builds In Progress?

Hi all,

Has anyone had their vehicle actually built yet? Mine has a build date of 6/24 (confirmed yesterday), and they are still telling me that I will have the car in mid-August.

They did offer me a 6/1 build date, but wanted more money since it was the dealership owners build slot, and to save a good clip, I felt it made sense to wait.

Just trying to figure out whether I’m likely to see my car in August, or if realistically that’s just not going to happen (as it changes the calculus on whether or not I buy something else as well).

Thanks for any insights.

From 35 years of experience with MBUSA, it is hard to tell when you might get your car. It will depend on when they actually release the cars from the ports. You could get it in August or it could be November. It really depends on the actual release date in the US. Many factors go into this release date including inventory of 2026's sitting on dealers lots. It is very frustrating as an early build may arrive at a dealers lot the same time as one built two months later depending on MBSA's release date from the ports.

While scrolling Instagram this morning, I noticed some dealers are starting to receive the refreshed models.

They showed the "unboxing" so doubt it was AI-Generated. Maybe dealers get some "floor models" to show but can't sell??

They can actually sell those “demo-like” cars, in some cases, but not always… official floor models, no, but some of them used as demo and/or “ad purposes” in shows and so on for thousands of miles, and then sold. Many dealers get some of these units even later mid year or even during subsequent years and they get a lot of discounts on these demo units, that they use either for shows or activities like driving celebrities for some sponsored events, or the sales people take with them when they setup a booth. Early production units also fall under the same umbrella when the dealer gets a discounted unit for the purpose of being a (show and tell) type of use-case. Some are early production units and can’t be sold, some could be sold, and some other units they get them in later years for such use cases… they later sell it as a demo or even as a car labeled as a new car for large discounts if anyone willing to take a virtually 2nd hand car but with no owners on carfax and with couple thousand miles. One of my local german dealers does the same for 2 of the luxury vehicles they have, and they use it by the sales people for booth, and the GM tells me they use it to generate sales (it’s a form of advertisement), corporate pays them for doing some of that, they drive it wherever to sponsored events when corporate asks them to do so, and then pass it to someone looking for a discounted unit. Nice way to get a used car labeled new, works for the dealer too to get a show-and-tell type of car when needed without paying much for it. Some cannot be sold, but many can actually be used this way and then sold.

I had a 5/15 build date. Then 6/15. Now moved to 6/22 but we have a VIN in Netstar. I’ve been in a rental since May 15th when I turned in my BMW 760i lease. I really can’t do this past August, so I hope that’s the date if not sooner.

What did you negotiate off MSRP? I’m at 3% + incentives.

3% off at this point is great, well done.

That dealer is in Europe, makes a little more sense. We won't see any cars here in the US for a while yet

Refreshes and new generations always take awhile. Wouldn't surprise me if they don't get to dealers until December/January.

NA still gets S-Class rather quick though compared to say A, C, E. Especially A and C those take almost a year after reveal to come to NA shores. Is the facelift certified by EPA yet? All the testing done yet?

I'm on my third allocation. My first two allocations had build dates in May but I picked exclusive paints which delayed each build by as much as 12 weeks. I asked for a new July allocation and picked a simple $0 metallic. My build is now hopefully gonna be beginning of August (slipped 2 weeks) But the dealer says my car will most likely arrive mid Sept to mid Oct.
I hope someone on here can report their car is on a ship by now...?

Sept Oct is about right. My guess is we won’t see any cars here until then.
