Please help! What to do with gearbox service?
I don't know if I have LSD, Mercedes can't tell me if I do
Is it advised to do torque converter drain of 10L I've read on Google it mentions it or just the normal 6L kit? Very confused on what to do as it says if you just do the 6L service kit then the oil will be contaminated. Curious if there is a complete set kit for the both that anyone could suggest/link if possible
I Thank you in advance
The earlier 7G automatic with a torque converter is different, and the torque converter fluid can be drained.
For a standard service, around 6 liters of ATF should be enough.
You can use MB236.15 Fuchs 7134FE. I'm currently using Ravenol, but I might switch to Fuchs at the next service.

Thank for your reply. I spoke to Mercedes as I wanted to check regarding the differential oil, they said 75W-140 even though I have no LSD but I researched it should be 75W-85 if it's standard differential so very confusing.
Regarding the gearbox service Mercedes said they have a kit that comes with 7 litres and then the kit itself.
Very different stuff showed online regarding how many litres and what to change. Why is it so hard to find something that says this is the correct and only kit that is for your car lol.
I want a full gearbox service kit and what brand is advised. Thanks
I think its code 471, but I didn't have one either and can't remember.
I also think I just put 75-140 in my new Wavetrac and that's factory spec LSD or not.

Put the car on a lift, or safely raise the rear wheels off the ground, then shift the transmission into N (Neutral) and rotate one of the rear wheels by hand.
If both rear wheels rotate in the same direction, the car is equipped with an LSD (limited-slip differential).
If the rear wheels rotate in opposite directions, it has an open differential.
This is the official Mercedes-Benz approved ATF specification list:

In my opinion, either Fuchs or the genuine Mercedes-Benz fluid is a good choice.
If you have the later 7G-MCT transmission, 6 liters is more than enough for a gravity drain-and-fill service, since the wet clutch assembly cannot be drained during a normal fluid change.
Besides the ATF, you'll also need a new transmission filter, pan gasket, pan bolts, and a new drain plug sealing washer. After refilling, the fluid level should be checked and adjusted with the transmission fluid temperature at 45°C.
By the way, would you mind taking a look at my thread as well? I'm experiencing a slight RPM needle fluctuation during upshifts and I'm trying to figure out whether it's normal behavior for the 7G-MCT transmission. I'd really appreciate it if you could share your observations or experience. Thanks!
