2011 Mercedes-Benz E350 No Crank, No Start
Symptoms: - Car drove perfectly the day before.- The next morning, it would not start.- No crank and no click from the starter.- Dash powers up normally.- Key is recognized.- Steering wheel is NOT locked.- Gear selector functions normally and will shift into Neutral with the key on.- Jump starting the vehicle made no difference.
What I've checked so far: - Battery was around 11.8V. I charged/jumped it to approximately 12.5V with no change.- Attempted to start in both Park and Neutral.- No warning messages displayed on the cluster.- Performed a scan with a Foxwell NT510 Elite. Stored codes include: - U016800 – Communication with the electronic ignition lock has a malfunction.- U119800 – Communication with the Intelligent Servo Module (ISM) has a malfunction.- C126 – CAN communication with steering column tube module (N80) has a malfunction.
The steering wheel remains unlocked, which is making me question whether this is truly an ESL issue. I also attempted the starter relay bypass test and still received no crank response.
At this point I'm trying to determine whether I'm dealing with: - A failed starter/starter solenoid- EIS/EZS failure- ESL issue- ISM issue- CAN communication problem- Something else entirely Has anyone experienced these exact symptoms on a W212? If so, what ended up being the root cause? Any guidance is appreciated.
