2016 AMG GT/GTS Transmission issues clarity
Hello all, first post but I've been reading through the forums for a few months.
I'm looking at purchasing a 2016 AMG GT/GTS with around 30,000 miles in the UK to replace my 2011 Jaguar XKR. I plan to daily the car but will only do around 6000 miles a year.
The main issue I see people talking about are the transmissions on these, but there is conflicting information. Some say all pre-facelift have the issue, others that it is limited to the 2016 GTS model and that it's guaranteed to fail and others that the failure rates are tiny and not to worry
Looking to get some clarity on how big of an issue it really is and if anyone in the UK has had to have it replaced, what the cost was. I'm not set on a GTS specifically, so if the 2016 GT is not affected, seems to make sense to save the money and go with the base model.

From what I've read here on the forum in the past (before I bought the car), the issue you're talking about was fairly common on the pre-facelift model, though it's hard to pinpoint an exact occurrence rate. With the facelifted model, the issue should have been resolved, or at least greatly reduced.
