Hey everyone, I am currently having some issues with the Harman Kardon system in my SLK. Earlier this month, I was driving the car while listening to music, when a crackling sound came from the middle rear speaker. A few minutes later, a burning smell filled the car, and I looked back and saw some smoke coming from the speaker area. The speaker in question is this one:
After removing the speaker, I was met with this:
The speaker got so hot that it melted the surrounding plastic, and the orange label too. I went to the MB dealer and bought a new speaker together with the plastic cover, and installed it, but after only 4 days, the exact same thing happened:
I am not too experienced with these kinds of systems, but given that I have had the speaker blow out twice, would I be correct in assuming that this is an amplifier problem? Has anyone had any similar issues with their car?
