91 SL500, Guages don't Work and Top will not go up or down

Hello,
I have a 1991 SL500 and have some serious problems that I cannot figure out. none of the gauges work except for the fuel guage and the top will not go up or down. I have torn the car apart looking for the problem, but cannot seem to find any thing that helps. I do not know what to do. Has anyone ever had any problems like this? Any help would be great. Thanks

I have checked both the fuses in the trunk and the hood and have had no luck. At one point the top suddenly went down, but now it won't go up. It is very strange, I'm not sure if there is just a trick I need to know. Thanks for your help.

Sorry,
The temp guage is the only guage that is working, not fuel.

Check the OVP fuses? The OVP looks like a little square box, with a clear top. It is in the electrical compartment in the engine bay in front of the passenger. There is one or two fuses in there; I think maybe 5 amp or 7.5 amp ATO type fuses. Check them with a VOM even if they look good.
Why do I say this - I had electrical problems for weeks. Someone suggested the OVP, and I looked at the fuses. They were not looking blown. Finally I checked them with a VOM, and one was bad, Replaced the 50 cent fuse and all was back to normal.

The soft top controller receives an input for vehicle speed from the instrument cluster. Since your cluster is shot, that is probably why the top doesn't work.
