Won't Let Go of the #%&@ Key
 

Twice now, my 1999 SL500 has refused to let me pull the key out after I have shut down the engine. Finally after considerable turning on and off it will let go. Has anyone else had this problem? I am afraid I will get stuck somewhere next time and not be able to leave the car. HELP PLEASE!!!!:crazy:

I think that always happens (on a hill or on the flat) when you happen to have your foot hard on the brake when truning the key off and removing the key.

As a reminder to put the parking break on?

Let your foot off the nrake and the key will release normally.

make sure you are fully in 'park', sometimes it isn't quite in.... also try shuffling the steering wheel... it'll eventually cure itself, whatever you do dont force the key...

yes it happens to me if you pull the key out quick then it will get stuck try to slowly shift to P then turn your lights off if they are on then and shut the car off then open your door and pull the key out , never had a problem since.
