R129 Power Seat Problem / mind of its own
Hello All,
I have a 92 500SL and while parked with the door open the seat moved all the way forward on its own. I was able to barely get out, could not stop it by using the switch. after banging the seat control switch I was able to slide only the Bottom back enough for me to fit in. Now when i try and tilt the Seat back , back. the seat bottom slides forward. I am able to slide the bottom back, however I cannot get the Seat back to move back. ( i hope this isnt too confusing ) I've read the Fuse and switch cleaning suggestions. However the seat back will move forward on it's own so I know there is power, I am assuming that the seat control switch is shorted out and I am looking to source a replacement. Does this sound reasonable? or does anyone have any other Idea's? this is what I have come up with so far and will be checking : http://www.pairlist.net/pipermail/r1...il/001735.html Thanks All in advance ! |
PS
It will also move itself forward randomly while driving. pretty scary stuff. |
Power seats
Same issue on my similar vintage SL. If I try to adjust it back it continues forward. After a bit of switch wiggle, it will move back. Does not other me much as I leave the seat in pretty much the same position. NEVER BOTHERED TO FIGURE WHY

Same issue someone please help
Same year same issues, did it to passenger side, and now drivers, now they both stoped working all together.
