R129 Power Seat Problem / mind of its own

Hello All,

I have a 92 500SL and while parked with the door open the seat moved all the way forward on its own.

I was able to barely get out, could not stop it by using the switch.

after banging the seat control switch I was able to slide only the Bottom back enough for me to fit in.

Now when i try and tilt the Seat back , back. the seat bottom slides forward.

I am able to slide the bottom back, however I cannot get the Seat back to move back. ( i hope this isnt too confusing )

I've read the Fuse and switch cleaning suggestions. However the seat back will move forward on it's own so I know there is power,
I am assuming that the seat control switch is shorted out and I am looking to source a replacement.

Does this sound reasonable? or does anyone have any other Idea's?

this is what I have come up with so far and will be checking :

Thanks All in advance !

Power seats

Same issue on my similar vintage SL. If I try to adjust it back it continues forward. After a bit of switch wiggle, it will move back. Does not other me much as I leave the seat in pretty much the same position. NEVER BOTHERED TO FIGURE WHY
