2001 SL500: Where is the outside thermostat?

The outsite temperature reading is too high by almost 10 degrees and i have a feeling that a mechanic may have moved it or broken it as it has been working fine up until about a week ago.

Does anyone know where it is located on the outside of the car so I can see if its still attached? Thanks.

In the lower mesh area on your front bumper. If you look at your car from the front, it should be on your right side close to the fog light.

Thanks, I think I found it. There's a wire with a hard plastic piece on the end just hanging down exactly where you said. Do you know if it should just be hanging there or is it supposed to be sticking through the grill? Thanks again.

The sensor is about the size of you index finger with a base that mounted into the bumper so the top end of the sensor should point toward (sticking through the grill slightly). You can use wire to tie it to the bumper to keep it secure. If it's loose, it will give you off-number readings.

Awesome and thanks! I'm going to take care of it right now.
