Anyone ever had a problem with the block on a 500SL?
Our '91 500SL is in the shop with what we "thought" was a blown head gasket, only to now find it may be a defective block (due to a defective casting). This car is a time machine....basically brand new "23 years later"!, kept maintained and inspected yearly since new, but it only has 3,300 miles on it! So, we are wondering if M-B will warranty this engine now. A real dilemma for such a low mileage car huh? If the car had been driven more this defect would have reared its ugly head many years ago!
Anyway, I am putting out feelers to see if there are others who have had this problem with the 500SL V-8 engine. Any feedback much appreciated, as we are attempting to work with M-B through the local dealer right now to resolve the issue. Thanks, John |
