SL/R129: ASR and ABS dash lights on after battery drainage.

1993 Mercedes Benz SL 500
ASR and ABS dash lights on after battery drainage.
My 1993 SL 500 was in the shop and the battery was drained down by the body guy. They jump started it and now the abs and asr lights on the dashboard are on and the convertible top won't go down. Any recommendations?

Try running the power windows ( both ) up and down 2-3 times, then turn the steering wheel stop to stop 2-3 times. When I put my 95 on the road after winter storage ( battery is removed for the winter ) this restores the memory sequence for the top.
As for the brake ABS etc, not sure.

If the battery is disconnected the ABS light will come on when the vehicle is restarted. The steering wheel turned full in both directions will reset that issue.
In later models some soft top removal can need resetting by the window operation procedure to get the Halls sensor for the window turns back in sync.
The ASR is not connected to those systems, however if the vehicle was "jump" started and the current on the jump was over-voltage. like from an other vehicle then lots can be altered by the "surge" energy and that can affect the CPU. Many in this and other forums can relate the nightmarish expenses that can be set in motion.
