Question 129 (1993) seat interchangeability

Hi,

Does anyone have experience with replacing 1993 seats with later (1998-9) 129 seats?
Thanks

Yes. Two forms of an answer.
Not all cushions are the same. Sew pattern, panel shape changed about 96 colors didn't change much.
Floor mounts and motors changed in 96 or 97.
Are you removing and replacing the entire mechanism? Move the rails and everything down to the electrical motor connection.
I have been unable to make the car seating fit tall people. A new thinner seat would be required for that conversion IMHO

Hi

Sorry but I dont find your answer that clear. I have the same question, how feasible is it to either:

1. remove the front seats entirely and replace with >1996 (R129 Series 9) seat versions? Are the seat rails / anchor points based on the same layout as the 1996 seat cushions?

sorry, lost the second half of the msg:

2. Simply replace the seat cushions with >1996 Series 2 cushions, without changing the whole seat infrastructure

R129 Series "9" in post above should of course read Series 2!

I have not moved the entire seat in any benz from one generation to another. In other vehicles when I have upgraded seating, I move everything. I often have new mounting brackets, holes in the floor boards etc. I would move the rails!!!
The caution with any change is getting the control to have the proper current to operate the functions of the seat. Benz R 129 has several design and control system upgrades that may present engineering, connection issues
