1995 SL320

Taillight problem om 95 SL320

My bulb out warning light came on but all lights working so I started changing fuses, a couple of questionable bulbs, got to the right taillight assembly, changed 1 bulb can not get the back plastic to snap back into place, tight now my tailight is not staying lighted, brake light does not work, back up does work turn signal works I have tried opening and closing the back but it will not close tight was wondering if it has to be tight so the metal makes a connection? I have not opened the aux. fuse box, I am almost afraid to undo anything on this car. Any ideas??????

Have you examined the wires to the lights? It is possible that the insulation has degraded and you have a short that may or may not be intermittent. Just an idea...
