SL/R129: sluvr - Ray. Your book recommendation.
You might want to read Mercedes-Benz SL published in 1989 by Automobilia. Bruno Alfieri, Author. This is the definitive R129 Study, with great photos & cutaway drawings.
I would like to order it. Could you look up the 10 digit ISBN # (which is above the bar code on the cover) and post that for me?
That will pinpoint the origin of the book.
Thanks

Thanks I'll be calling the book store tomorrow.
Sounds like a great insight into the workings of what we already know are great cars.
I hope it is not in french like the book references are.

I'll keep trying. It sounds like a gem.
Anything that illustrates this car is of interest to me.
For instance, a couple of weeks ago I drove in heavy rain at night and hit a pool of water at about 40 mph on a ramp that pounded water off my tires into the under carrage.
A noise developed. I stopped to check the plastic shields to see if anything had come loose and was rubbing a tire.
At the inside top of the tire, I was suprised. WOW! is something broken? I felt how close the front shocks are to the tires. About 3/4". The other tire had the same spacing. To me it seems like an unbelievably small toreance! Good engineering!
The next day, I found a light sheet metal shield near the exhuast pipe under the drivers seat had been deformed by the water blast and had come into contact with the exhaust pipe. I bent it back by hand. No more noise.
Back closer to topic ... does anyone know a good place to locate out of print books?
Good Luck Ray

The ISBN # leads only to the fact that the book must be out of print.
