Favorite R129 review quotes
I find certain professional review comments comming to mind as I learn to enjoy my car.
1 1/2 years ago when I was looking into buying MB for the first time ... I was doing Goggle research on mid 1990s SL500s ... I found Edmund's and other reviews that describe the R129.
From memory:
"Presence of the SL500 increases the real-estate value in the neighborhood."
"Acceleration is astounding from 2,500 rpm to out of there!"
"Performance unmatched by most cars unless they have police ban radios in them."
"The car dissects traffic like a warm knife trough butter."
That was before SL55 and SL600 biturbos took over the reviews.
What gets forgotten in the shift is that the R230 SL500 is the same motor as 1999 R129 and basically the same car except sheet metal, retactable hard top, ABC and interior niceties
To anyone who can not relate from ownership. Don't forget R129s are fine cars.
