SL/R129: Soft Top raising issue

Soft Top raising issue
Thanks for reading. Yes, I've used the search feature, and I've tried the various methods I came across, but as with a lot of topics on here that have been covered a lot, I'm hoping maybe I missed something.
I have a 1999 Sl500, and am having an issue with the soft top. This spring, I took the hard top off, but have been having some battery issues. I think the battery is going bad, or there is a drain somewhere coming from the car. Once charged, it starts fine, runs great, windows work fine. However, when I go to put the soft top up, the red indicator light illuminates and nothing happens. This occurs with engine on or off, and even when battery is fully charged and car running. Would a bad/failing battery cause this issue, even if it's fully charged at time of car running? When I press top down direction, it sounds as though something is cycling through, so I know the switch is working (at least that direction)

99% sure it's the battery. I live in DC, so I never say 100% on anything in general! Good ole' Elon Musk. Looking forward to the day when he no longer has the battery market by the short hairs to prevent others from developing competition for Tesla. How he gets away with that business practice and not get sued to the end of time is beyond me.

I have a 2021 - GLS63,
and this "STOP VEHICLE" Red Battery Icon has come up twice in 3 weeks.
I had to get it towed.
the first time, they did a software update.
and now it happened again today, (sunday) and will know tomorrow what the Service Dept says.
Does MB really know whats going on? Will a battery replacement fix this issue?
I have a 2021 - GLS63,
