I have a 99 SL500 and a 99 E320, I actually like the E 320 shifter better than the Sl's cause it is sorta "tiptronic"
The SL shifter I find hard to use as there is no gate between 2nd, 3rd and 4th, it is easy to go from 4th to 2nd. Will the E320 shifter work in the SL? I am imagining it will as same year, trans is the same (I think) so has anyone done the swap or know for certain if it will or will not work?

I've had the exact same idea. The thing is that it operates on CANBUS, so I think it could be made to work.

Someone has to do the R&D on this. The tiptronic style shifter would be a HUGE improvement.
