Where in the world are you and what year of production is your vehicle?
the rear speakers in the R129 are covered by fabric panels that are removable. While I have not tightened any screws I recall that threaded fasteners are part of the system.
The bose base speaker near the floor behind the driver seat ( in my three examples ) has been removed with 10mm bolts and a mastic seal ( tar like ) that is difficult to remove. It required a slow steady pressure. When replacing I used a warming "gun" to soften the material.

my SL is a 2000 and i'm not referring to the bass speakers in the compartment but the co-axle speakers in the rear wall if you will by the roll bar.
I'm in S. florida to answer your question. Thanks if you can help.

You have to remove the panel. Then you can tighten or replace the speakers.
