Hello, I have 1995 SL320 ( R129 ) I keep getting a loud Whirring noise coming from the front of the Engine on Cold starts and after about one minute or two, it dies right down to quiet.
I was wondering if it could have anything to do with transmission or ?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't have any code lights showing as yet.

Could it be fan noise .... either the main viscous fan on the front of the engine, or the two electric fans in the grill? Maybe get someone else to start the car while you stand in front (off to the side!) with the hood open and have a listen.
