Hi, sold my 1998 c350 had since new and getting into a 2001 SL500 with 70k on the clock. So what should I be looking for during pre-purchase inspection? Also this one doesn't have headlight wiper, is that a concern? (UPDATE: xenon headlights don't have wiper)

That the soft top hydraulics work.
We have had our 1999 since 2002, when it had say 21,000 miles on it.
18 years later 150,000 miles.
The car has been very reliable. Still very solid.
Other will chime in with better advice.

Thanks man. It's official went back and made a deal. Car was on consignment all summer and the owner happens to be there visiting and the dealer (they're buddies) facilitated a private sale to save me money on fees. It's in the garage instead of out on the lot now. $9000 out the door (doing sales tax & tab myself Monday)
You have bought an excellent car. Where do you live? Up north - where you only have a few weeks of top down driving left? Or in the south?
What I found surprising when we bought - is The ESP programs that keep you safe .
Push the car trough curves, off ramps, turns faster that you normally would dare to.
Feel the ESP trowing on the needed brake for stability.
I don’t do that much any more - but is very cool.
Your C Class probably did not have that.
Also if you can do a standing start acceleration run - it pulls steadily up to 130 mph - quite impressive.
6.2 seconds 0 to 60 mph is not all that impressive now days - but feels good!
