Hot Start problem 1993 300SL

my 1993 300 SL (115,000 miles) has been having problems re-starting after it has warmed up. It fires up right away when cold, but if I drive it for 15 minutes, turn it off and try to restart, it will start and die down. then try to start again, The starter cranks but, only after several attempts it will start.
also I am getting a poor gas milage Any Idea?
