New to me 1998 SL500
Always have wanted one
it is a pretty thing to look at
my wife has put a claim in
Car has been garaged entire Life
here in Va Beach. 1998 74k miles
i have owned a 2003 SL500 for 10 years Have driven it 110k miles
Fun Car
I am in process of replacing wear items
and a couple of broken plastic pieces
paint and interior immaculate
it was obviously the first owners baby
He passed away a couple years ago
and family decided to make room in garage
It was towed to an independent repair shop where a battery was installed to start car They made a list of repairs needed?? List and battery cost 604.
9000. In repair noted. I’m sure now they were trying to buy the car.
I began going through list of repairs
Amazed once I began a good look
The Underside looks as good as the exterior
Front lock cylinders were leaking so they are on their way to top hydraulics
Spark plugs thermostat new continental drive belt kit etc being replaced
Both tops in great condition
I have a couple of questions
This forum R230 side has always been a big help
Which top cylinders go after front lock ones repaired?
Is there a scanner port like the R230 ?
Mercedes build list

Any idiosyncrasies for R129 as with all machines?

ALL the top cylinders will need replacement in short succession. Visit Top Hydraulics to read up on the task and order from the owner.
If your key fob is fine and you just need a new flip key cut, that's not a problem. Getting a new fob and mating it to the car's security system is another.
Start reading on this site for what maintenances to address. Just do a search.
