Ordering SL500 for May Euro Delivery..New Motor?
I am going to be placing an order for a 2006 SL500 for European Delivery in May 2006. Will this have the new motor or is it not a "for sure" thing yet? Thanks!

03 clk320 and 06 sl500 in sept 05
Some do
Most dealers seem to shy away from ED all together and the MB brochures do not include the SL. I was fortunate enough to find a salesman who really focuses on ED and it was a great experience 3 years ago picking up my CLK in Europe. I inquired about ED on a SL500 and he was able to get one for me without problem. I am leaving in 3 weeks to pick it up Sept 19th. Not sure where it's made, but picking up in Sindelfingen at the factory. Best of luck.

Sindelfingen is south west of Stuttgart and is where they make the S, CL and E. The SL as RadSteve says is made in Bremen and theres about 400 miles between them. Can only assume they transport the SL to Sindelfingen for you to collect.
As for the new engine, it's highly unlikely that such a change would be introduced in the middle of the model year. It's not just the engine which changes, there will be myriad other detail changes like wiring looms and software and you don't just decide to do that one Tuesday morning.

I have to pick up the car in May (that's when I am going to Europe) so whatever is available then is what I am getting. The new motor is not a priority. My local dealer is well-versed in European Delivery and has category stated that indeed I can get the SL for European delivery no problem. Thanks for all your help!
