SL/R230: What's with MBUSA?

What's with MBUSA?
I ordered a 2007 SL600 2 weeks ago when the dealer received the initial SL order forms. Only problem was the designo paint colors were not listed and not in the order system. The dealer placed my order with an alternate color to get my allocation spot and will change the color when they get a code number the system will accept; hopefully, in time to make my car. The color I want is designo graphite. I called MBUSA and was told designo graphite will probably be a 2007 SL color, but it is not on their order form yet. They said they did not know when the full color list would be sent to dealers. I called again yesterday and still no one knows when the designo colors will be released to the dealers or when their order system will be updated to accept orders for this option. It is frustrating that no one could assist me with my order. I don't know if MBUSA doesn't want to take the time to help, or is just disorganized and under staffed. Makes you wonder what service you could expect on a complicated problem! TwinCam

You will know before your car is processed whether the color is available or if you need to choose a different one---this won't hold up your delivery.
I think the chances of designo graphite not being available are pretty slim. Nonetheless, maybe you should start considering your 2nd favorite color.

I have a feeling that the MBUSA website knows what the colors are but arent allowed to release the information yet. My guess is that they have the site already built and (hopefully) tested and are only awaiting the OK from MB germany.
You can sign up for Email notification at the site for when it comes on line, which I did for my 2007 SL55 on order.
I also tried hacking a bit to see if there were a test site out there with different URL, but no luck.
It just means we have to be patient. Thats the hard part.

Thanks Jack and Paul. I have given the dealer my second color choice, but hope they will get the color code for designo graphite before Germany makes the car. I'll be patient, however you would think someone at MBUSA could give me the color code or a date when all the colors will be released to the dealer. It is a pain to scan the internet every day hoping the "Build Your Own" or some other web site lists the colors. Guess it's life in the fast lane! TwinCam

If you're looking for the color code for desgino Graphite, the dealer should know that already. If not, it's 041. MB never changes their color codes.
If you're looking for the option code, the dealer should know that as well, unless it changes from model year to model year. It's been 235 for the last few years, though.
I hope they make the designo Mystic White from the S-class available for the SL, that would be incredible...

Full order specifications are not usually available until sometime after the second week in April.
I'd start to worry after that. I am not sure they can even get production dates yet.

I really think people expect too much of Mercedes at times, I mean this is much ado about nothing IMO. When they get the info they'll get it. I mean we're talking about a 2007 model car that is going on sale in April of 2006 so the info might be a little scarce at first, what is the big deal?
