Who has the most miles on their R230?

Anyone over 100K miles?

Artyi 10-27-2007 03:03 AM

Oh... Too much for SL :)
Mine 2002-01 has 39.000 Km -> 24.375 Miles.:y

I guess it's still good!:)
What you think if selling after 2-3 years and making 10.000 Miles a year?
Price will get down a lot or not?

Chris 45971 10-27-2007 07:23 PM

I'm at 34K. Bought it new in late 2004 and will run it until it doesn't go any more. Not selling it.

I'm bringing my car in next month for the scheduled service. I'll ask my service advisor what is the most he's seen for a R230.

ToonArmy 10-30-2007 03:08 PM

I've got 36K on mine - August 2003, been an almost daily driver

CRP911 10-30-2007 03:47 PM

I have 52,000 on mine but have not seen any with over 90K...

Murtaza 10-30-2007 05:51 PM

I'm at 24.5k, about 6.5k over my miles on my lease:smash::D

Here in Cali, many people rack up some serious miles on their cars. If you look on Autotrader or Cars.com and enter the right criteria you can see a bunch of high mileage SLs 50K-90K and also get a good feel for what mileage does to resale.

The most I've ever seen was on this car:

http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/dd...ce=&cardist=25

I went to this second-tier dealer with a friend who was looking at non-Mercs and it was sitting in their showroom. It was actually in pretty good shape for a car with 103K on the clock. It looks like they still haven't sold it yet and don't think they will at $44K.

My SL550 is 10 months old and has 5,650 miles on the odometer.

One problem with a strut that happened around 55K ... they fully covered it and fixed it 1st time around and no probs since then ...except for the normal for me ....

I've mangled 4 of the wire mesh screens in the lower front bumper skirt. Each time that was because I was at speed and in too close to other vehicles (very close) and they kicked up something that was on the road already and I caught it ... or they had a tire come apart and i caught a portion of the debris (those were all my fault).

BTW - am the original owner of the car and it has been driven quite hard.

you must not like to drive it if you have avg'ed less then 2K miles a year? That low of mileage is harder on a vehicle then the 126K mileage of the other poster.

lovemysl 01-30-2008 04:00 PM

I am fast approaching 80K on my 2003 Designo

Just FYI...I just bought this 2003 SL with 7800 miles on it. And I bought it only 2 months ago. I couldn't resist it although I'm used to buying only brand new cars. I found out that a very wealthy grocery chain owner in my town had bought it for his wife, but she preferred driving an Audi all wheel drive auto. It wasn't used and sat in a thermostatically controlled garage along with 9 other cars. I was able to use one of my friends in the car business to approach the owner and convince him to sell it to me. It had only 2 service visits for oil changes, and it's absolutely "cherry". I bought it for $53,000 and it had a sticker of over $106,000. I even have his bill of sale, and he didn't negotiate at all. He paid the full price.
My dealer sold me a 5 year 36,000 mile bumper to bumper, Zero deductible warranty for $1620.00.
I love driving and I will put on some miles....but that's the story behind my very low miles.
I'm absolutely in Heaven over this deal.

The previous owners wife must of been a nut case. Oh well their loss is your gain. Now get out there and start racking up those miles :)

Dude.
Time to get you an AMG when you get out of your lease.

I am at 44.5 K Miles. Time to start thinking about warranty extensions
as I have decided to keep my beast. Been spending more time in the CL with the weather so crappy. SL55 and Rain is No Bueno.

I think SL-Chick is at like 5000 miles on her 2007 SL550. She always makes me drive her around when we get together.

That's just because she doesn't want to put miles on her new SL. Might as well ride in your beater :D

bw53 02-01-2008 07:32 PM

Just bought mine two ago and it has 12,500 miles. Not bad for a 2005!

Hi, what about the motor, burn any oil, weakened over time, 5 speed like new? Curious how long these cars last.

Would really be interesting to know what you spent on service and repairs over these last years?
