Interesting. I was under the impression the car lowers FURTHER from the lowest setting at high speeds. And this can be compensated by pressing the button.

My 'quick and dirty' test for this confirmed it with a much different suspension feel driving with the button pressed 2x at speed. (if your hypothesis was true, wouldn't it be identical at high speed?)

305/25/20R

No rubbing at all, but I will let you know after we lower it. You went 3MM longer than the stock ones on the front and 2mm shorter on back. I am thinking from the mounting points is were you measured right?

yes !!!! just make sure the new links are longer "F" and shorter "R" at those measurement i stated . (measurement tape works ) see if the drop is ok with you if not , drop another MM or so , but be careful cuz when i was installing my at first i measured 1" difference between the links and my car just slammed . So star off like i said , the worse than can happen is having your car dropped like mine .

Woops! My bad. Remind me not to blindly quote others in the future.

Here is the specs I have done for my setup (I may have to do a 20in rear if they don't make my wheel):
I think the programming/settings are different as well.

My rear offset is more than likely mid to low 30's on ET; not really sure, I think ET35, 34, and 32 are all common depending on the outer lip size.

I stayed with 19's instead of going to 20's mainly due to weight of the wheels and the tires at 20" sizes plus a slightly thicker sidewall (35F and 30R instead of 30F and 25R); one big factor is unsprung weight which is a performance killer moreso that sprung weight & it takes more energy to spin 20's than 19's while the difference in contact patch is negligible.

How do they compare for cornering ability? Does the thicker sidewall on the 19's tires give better side-to-side rigidity than the shorter sidewall on the 20's?

That's more a tire design specification rather than a difference in say 35 series tire to 30 series; the physical difference in sidewall is negligible and at 19 and 20" sizes you are still talking about a significant rolling diameter; so sidewall flex may be slightly mitigated if the tire is designed for higher cornering load and properly matched to the rim width.

Evening project complete! Just installed the links on my SL55 in a little over one hour taking my time, including final adjustments. I lowered it about 1.5" all aroung and am very pleased with the look and ride comfort. Unfortunately, it was too dark to take pictures which I will do tomorrow. Thanks for everyone's installation tips. I chose to keep the rear wheels on during install. If the car is hoisted high enough and you're a fairly good contortionist, doing the rear is do-able without wheel removal. One thing I did was apply a little soapy water to the rubber boots which resulted in easier installation (no pliers needed). To the manufacturer: Nice product! It's probably not possible due to space limitations, but it would be really cool if the links were designed with an adjustment collar similar to a tie rod end so you could adjust the length of the link by turning the collar rather than taking an end off. Pics to follow. PJ

links installed from John @ adjustableairride.com

So i clicked on the link in the thread last night around 7pm, saw a local area code 604, called it thinking i would get a machine as SUNDAY, mother's day after 7pm..but i got an answer it was John on his cell. I made an appointment for 11am today, and i went in and he installed the links on my '03 sl500. He is super nice, and great to deal with the product is top quality and he installed in w/o taking off rims in about 20-25min!! I showed him where i wanted the height and he lowered it to a really nice drop. I weigh too much and found once i got in it rubbed a little in the front. Hes going to adjust it for me. I raised it up 1 with the suspension and it rides fine now. I'm 6'3, 245lbs, so it drops more when i'm in it LOL.

Great guy, product, so nice to be local and get put in by the guy who made it!

pics show it low, then after raising it with to #1...but its lower with me in it.

last pic is stock.
