PIcs of my JL 13.5" sub installed in footwell & sport bmpr W/lip (inspired by AMGFAN)
SubscribeI know this is an old post, just need some info.
I really want to install a JL shallow mount sub in place of the stock sub and have the following questions.
What is the model of the shallow mount sub people have used?
How is this mounted, is the old plastic chamber with the vent pipes not used and a new enclosure made?
What is a good way to change the input speaker wires to RCA inputs for a sub?
Thanks in advance.

I used the JL 13tw5 like amgfan and others, it works great. You remove the old Bose setup and will need a custom box to be built, likely out of fiberglass because of the odd shape. You will need some sort of line converter to change the speaker signal to RC input (there are several brands out there).

Great thanks, I take it you'll also need an additional amp too? Originally Posted by NEMES1S

You are correct. I mounted mine in the trunk near the battery.

Great. Can you still fit the spare wheel, what was the amp you used?Originally Posted by NEMES1S

I actually built a wood frame and mounted it toward the cabin so I could still have the spare, but others have mounted it below (I'm also not sure I'd risk trapping all of that heat in there). I believe the amp I have in now was a kenwood excelon xr-1s, mainly because it has decent power, small form factor, and had the remote bass knob that fit perfectly in the ashtray slot up front.
